Apple posted a list of job listings on November 13 that could provide some insight into the company’s direction in regards to metaverse technology.

The job listing states that the elected engineers will be “building tools and frameworks to enable connected experience in a 3D mixed reality world.”
Engineers are needed to create a 3D video platform that can be viewed via virtual reality hardware. Technavio’s Nov. 11 report on the future entertainment metaverse also predicted the rise of such experiences, and foresaw that it would become a trend in coming years, thereby fueling the growth in the interactive film industry.

Apple’s Meta Apprehension
The company and its executives were hesitant to call the virtual experiences, which are now known as the metaverse the metaverse. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, believes that the term is too vague and can be interpreted in many different ways.
Bright was informed by Cook:

It is important to me that people understand what something is. And I don’t think the average person could tell you what the metaverse is.

Cook, on the other hand, believes AR is a great technology and will benefit everyone who adopts it.
